The English Language Arts program, in its four-year sequence, aims to cultivate interest in, respect for, and competence in language and literature.  The program is intended to assure steady growth in the student’s ability to write and speak clearly and well, to read with understanding, appreciation and insight, and to think effectively.  All courses in the English Department address the Common Core State Standards and prepare students for the New York State Common Core ELA Regents exam and for reading, writing, listening, and speaking beyond high school.
